The Ultimate Post-Fajr Ritual

by Mamoon Yusaf

After you start waking up for Fajr, I don’t recommend going straight back to sleep. It’s way more productive to stay up and make the most of the early hours. Some of my best writing, and best work gets done during these hours.

I’ve played around with a few different routines & rituals, to make the most out of this blessed time, and start my day with clean energy, so I’m centered no matter what comes my way.

Here’s my current set up:

6am Wake, Wudu

6:15 Fajr

6:30 Quran

6:45 Workout.

7:00 Breakfast.

As part of ‘Fajr’, I include certain Sunnah litanies (zikr), recommended to me. And, it would make sense to continue reciting until shuruk (the time that Fajr finishes), and I often do.

I love this set-up because it’s simple, and keeps me on track with my biggest personal goals: memorizing the Quran & staying in shape – each of which only take 10 minutes or so, to keep the momentum going.

If you’d like more detail on this, and my best ideas on how to wake up for Fajr, and be productive from dawn, check out the Productive From Fajr program, which is now included in The Ocean:
