How to hit ‘pause’ on your Nafs

by Mamoon Yusaf

Tomorrow, I’m going to be teaching the first Nafs Mastery Session.

But it’s okay, please relax… You don’t need to panic!

There’s still plenty of time for you to sign up if you want to attend the session live ;O)

The theme of tomorrow’s session is “The 7 Portals into Presence”.

What most people don’t realize is that when our minds enter a state of conscious awareness or “presence”, it kind of puts the nafs into “suspended animation”.

In other words, the entire time that you’re present, your Nafs cannot sabotage you.

The moment I realized this, two big questions came to mind:

  1. Is it possible to make yourself present at will whenever you want?
  2. If so, what can you do to stay in that state for as long as humanly possible?

The answer to the first question is what we’ll be dealing with in tomorrow’s Nafs Mastery session.

It turns out there are a handful of ways (specifically seven, which I’ll be teaching tomorrow), that you can use to bring yourself fully into the present moment – any time you want.

Because I now know that being fully present is like pressing “pause” on the Nafs, I consider mastering these portals into presence to be one of the most important skills a human being can ever learn.

That’s why we’re covering them in the very first Nafs Mastery session.
