They called him a fool.
They said a cricketer could never become the Prime Minister.
They mocked him for only ever being the opposition.
But, that never bothered him, because they used to mock him when he said that Pakistan could never win the Cricket World Cup.
And a few days ago, something astonishing happened: after many years of getting whooped, Imran Khan, the LEGEND, won the election & became the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
Some people say that a nation gets the leader that it deserves. If that’s the case then I’ve never felt so proud of Pakistan (…and so much compassion for the USA).
If we become obsessed with fame, fortune, and reality-TV, it empowers the Trumps of this world.
If we become obsessed with justice, people’s welfare and, well, cricket… it empowers the Imran Khan’s.
Let’s hope Britain becomes obsessed with saving the NHS & Star Wars so they get Obi-Wan Corbyn 🙂
Anyway, whatever your politics, looking at our nations & our leaders really brings to light the Quran verse:
“Allah will not change the state of a people, until they change within themselves”
(Literally: that which is in their nafs/ egos”)
