Once I had a client who was very worried about her marriage because she had a sneaking suspicion that her husband was looking elsewhere and secretly wasn’t satisfied and wanted a second wife.
She knew many women were interested in him & she could get very insecure.
Every time his phone buzzed her heart sank. She would glance over to see who texted him. Even when it was a man’s name she thought the name might be fake.
One day they went out for dinner, leaving the kids at home, so they could have a proper “date”. As they sit at the restaurant, she sees a beautiful woman, wearing an elegant dress, with perfect hair walks in.
And the wife recognises her. It’s her husband’s work colleague.
She glides past their table, not noticing them. But as she walks past, the wife knows what’s about to happen. She looks up at her husband, and his eyes are looking straight past her and firmly fixed on his colleague’s annoyingly perfect figure, as if in a trance.
The wife flips. She’s fuming with anger, jealousy and insecurity. It’s one thing for women to be into him, but he shouldn’t be looking at them! She gets up and walks out of the restaurant.
Knowing that she must be losing her cool, she immediately sends me an email asking her what she should do.
I told her the same thing I’m going to tell you, if you have any fears, doubts or concerns about your marriage:
