There’s a well-known saying that when the blessed month of Ramadan begins, the devils are locked away. To many people that’s a myth or a legend, but I have reason to believe it’s literally true.
Case in point: for no tangible reason whatsoever, as soon as Ramadan started a few weeks ago, the sales of my book, “Inside the Soul of Islam” instantly tripled on Amazon.
That wasn’t due to any clever marketing trick or tactic.
I haven’t even mentioned the book or promoted it at all this month, because I was too busy blogging and writing articles about “The Ramadan Challenge” and supporting students in The Ocean. Instead, the books have been flying off Amazon’s virtual shelf, because there’s an abundance of divine grace and love in the air this month… and that loving energy has lead people to want to explore the truly beautiful and uplifting teachings of Islam.
That’s probably why I’m getting messages on Social Media and via email from people reaching out to tell me about Ramadan ‘incidents’, such as:
- The non-Muslim next door neighbour of one of my relatives was given the book as a gift before Ramadan started and is now fasting and praying during this month
- Someone in a Whatsapp group said that one of their housemates immediately became Muslim upon reading the book.
- Someone on Instagram who believes in God but hasn’t found religion yet, reached out to tell me that they were deeply touched by the book and the Psychological Reality it teaches helped him drop abusive substances and overcome heartbreak and has made him very eager to learn more about Islam.
- Several people telling me that they were about to lose faith, then read the book, and felt so deeply moved by the spiritual teachings of Islam that they now feel more spiritually connected than ever
- And many, many more stories I’ll share in the coming days
Pretty much every Muslim who’s read “Inside the Soul of Islam” has commented on how deeply they were impacted by it and they immediately wanted to buy extra copies for family members and friends of other faiths. You don’t need to take my word for it – check out the Amazon reviews for yourself.
It seems to be because it ties together beautiful Quranic and Prophetic teachings that all Muslims love being reminded of, with a common-sense approach to psychology that makes those spiritual teachings a lived reality. And because it was written for a mainstream audience, it’s kept jargon-free and gives regular people a glimpse into the kind of spiritual purification all believers experience during blessed times like the nights of Ramadan.
It seems like all the spiritual seekers come out to play, when the devils’ are locked away. It you want to help them find what they’re looking for, maybe you can point them in the right direction.
