Over the weekend, I was interviewed by TV presenter Nadia Hassam, based around one key question:
“With so much injustice happening in the world, how do we live with ourselves knowing we can’t do much about it…?”
The interview went into quite a bit of depth.
Here are some of the gems that came up during the session. If you want context, or more explanation around them, watch it. One person said they planned for a Saturday night movie, but were totally drawn into this conversation instead. I daresay this might be a tad more beneficial than the latest flick on Netflix…
- The prophetic statement that makes it clear that forbearance in the face of injustice is always a better idea than anger if you want to be a truly *spiritual * activist
- The wisdom from spiritual master ibn Ata’illah that will make you want to instantly quit all your social media accounts and get to work on actually doing something about the injustices in the world (instead of just being an angry Facebook commentator).
- Indisputable proof that injustice is not the actual cause of anger – and why understanding this automatically makes you a much more effective and powerful activist
- How the state of your mind is connected to the world around you, and how you can be a force for positive transformation when you understand this on a deep level (Note: This happens in the exact the opposite way than most people assume)
- Why the spiritual seeker does not seek the lime-light… and how they can be a powerfully “invisible” force for good, without drawing attention to themselves.
- What spiritual activism looks like and how it’s different to “egotistical activism”
- Exactly what to do, psychologically and spiritually if you want to create more peace, justice, love and light in the world
- The 2 major perspectives – given by the Quran and understanding the God-given gift of the human mind – that bring instant peace and harmony into our lives when we see injustice, even before we start to taking any action to alleviate it.
- Al-Ghazali’s enlightening perspective on anger and injustice
- And much, much more.

P.S. If you’re a deep thinker and want to go much more deeply into the psychological understanding that lets our activism be spiritual, and lets us drop ego-based anger so we can be true servants of the divine and automatically embody the spiritual teachings we all believe in, then dive into The Ocean and start with “The Paradigm Shift” program:
