Don’t pray out of guilt. It’s the worst reason to pray. Guilt feels bad, it brings you down, and wanting to avoid it is kind of a silly, selfish reason to go to the prayer mat. Your ego can run circles around you if guilt is the only reason you’re trying to pray.
For too long, a lot of us have settled for guilt as a common reason to pray, because we’ve been aiming to just ‘get it done’ instead of aiming to elevate our souls, and be transformed every time we step up to pray.
