Like taking sailing advice from the captain of the Titanic

Quote:

“Not even God could sink this ship,”

[Commonly attributed to Captain Edward John Smith of the Titanic].

In the outstanding movie “The Dark Knight”, the Joker, played by Heath Ledger, was holding Batman’s girlfriend outside the window of a skyscraper.

Batman instinctively said, “Let her go.”

And the Joker responded with the perfect phrase that someone probably should have pointed out to the captain of the Titanic when he claimed that ‘even God could not sink this ship’.

The Joker’s wisdom?

“Very poor choice of words!”

The Joker’s not wrong.

If you think about it, the captain’s words were the exact opposite of saying “insha’Allah”. (God-willing).

From an Islamic perspective, we could make the same point that the dear captain was trying to make, but in a way that is absolutely aligned with our firm belief in the Almighty.

Here is an accurate Islamic way of saying the same thing – of making the same point the captain was trying to communicate – but without the unwisely blasphemous undertone.

Quote:

“The only one who could sink this ship is God.”

This is the exact equivalent of saying – this ship will sail safely, ‘insha’Allah’.

Literally, the reason why Muslims say “insha’Allah” is to make the point that the only one who can make something happen, or stop it from happening, is God.

So if I’m going to do something insha’Allah, it means I’m going to do it – but for divine intervention stopping me.

I guess what I’m trying to say here is…

Taking life advice from someone who isn’t taking Allah into account at all… is a little bit like taking sailing advice from the captain of the Titanic.

It’s not that the captain of the Titanic wasn’t an expert in his field or didn’t know his craft well. I’m certain that he was.

But there was a little factor that wasn’t taken into account.

The big G-O-D.

And as a result, there was another little factor that wasn’t taken into account: the big I-C-E-Berg.

Ouch! Too harsh?

Well then you’re going to hate this…

If you’ve been trying to take relationship, marriage or dating advice from someone who isn’t Muslim, doesn’t acknowledge the Prophetic ideals of masculinity and femininity, or doesn’t think your connection with Allah has anything to do with your mating strategy… then you’re probably already experiencing a lot of iced-out disconnection in your relationships and love life.

If you wanna fix that, check out Enlightened Relationships if you’re married and if you’re single, check out Meet Him & Marry Him OR Meet Her & Marry Her.

To access them, be sure to avoid all the icebergs on the way to checking out this link, insha’Allah:
