13 things that become effortless when you’re spiritually connected

by Mamoon Yusaf

A lot a lot of things in our lives seem like hard work and seem draining, when we’re not spiritually connected.

When our mind is noisy and we have insecure negative thinking and feeling, everything feels like hard work. But when the mind is quiet and clear, we feel connected with Allah, and everything seems effortless.

That’s not to say lifting heavy weights suddenly becomes light and easy. But the ‘hard part’ of working out isn’t really the weights. It’s getting yourself to go to the gym. (And all the self-berating over-thinking that often comes with it).

When you’re spiritually connected, here are all the things that happen automatically and almost effortlessly, because we don’t waste unnecessary time and energy over-thinking about them…

  1. Lifting heavy weights and going to the gym

  2. Attending jujitsu class

  3. Writing blog posts, articles, books, podcasts and other pieces of content

  4. Any “deep work” that requires our full cognitive attention.

  5. Showing up to any life-improving commitment that requires us to organise our lives to get there on time

  6. Any and all forms of social interaction. Especially dating. Even if it involves using Muzmatch.

  7. Creating time each day with your partner to deeply connect and develop your marriage.

  8. Family gatherings. Even when ‘you-know-who’ will be there.

  9. Interviews, public presentations, talking with potential clients, and anything that might improve your standing in the professional world.

  10. Prayer, meditation and any spiritual practice including all forms of ‘zikr’

  11. Getting to the mosque for prayer.

  12. Reading and studying. Including anything from the Quran, to a textbook, to a leisurely, nonfiction self help book or novel

  13. Learning a new language

I could go on, but you get the picture. The secret to being able to excel in all areas of life is simply quietening the mind, spiritually connecting with Allah and from that enlightened, connected, present minded state, engaging in the activity.

The question is: why don’t we all do that all the time?

The answer is: Because we get caught up in a pesky little mind trick that I call “The Psychological Illusion”, that fills our minds with cluttered, insecure thinking and distracts us.

When we learn to free ourselves from The Psychological Illusion, our mind returns to its natural state of clarity, quiet mindedness and spiritual connection.

All of a sudden, you’re back to being your best self: fully confident, fully secure and ready to give your best.

If you want to learn my systematic method for achieving that state of mind, check out my upcoming coaching programme, The Spiritual Switch:
