As I write this note I don't really know where to start other than to say thank you and that may Allah SWT bless you and your family for all your efforts. I was feeling very hopeful and thought to myself 'what do I have to lose?' Every year I feel that I have a productive Ramadan and have the best of intentions to carry on reading the Quran throughout the year and then never manage to maintain it. This year I have continued daily and all I want to do is study all day. Even my kids are saying I've changed as I try to find a healthy balance :)

Previously I'd pick up the Quran and I'd look at the Arabic and because I know I'd struggle, it was almost like a blocker for me. Since Ramadan, in addition to following the programme, I have been reciting out loud daily each night before sleeping by following online. The other week I picked up the Quran and opened it up on random different pages to check if I was ready to move on from the fluency stage (I even looked for the pages that looked challenging) and I was Ok in reading it within the time you suggested. I know I'm far from perfect and still no doubt making mistakes but the fact that I felt confident enough to do that is progress. It makes we want to pick up and read now :)

“Now I understand 100% of the Quran in Arabic, and I can feel the spirit of ibaada”

I used to love the Quran and respect it even though I couldn’t understand a word of it. For over 20 years, I prayed five times a day and didn’t know what I was saying – I just did it as a ritual.
